Privacy Policy for Screen Note

Effective date: June 1, 2026 · Last updated: October 8, 2026

Screen Note ("we", "our", or "us") built the Screen Note browser extension as a free tool. It is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.

1. Data Collection and Use

Screen Note operates entirely locally within your browser. It has no server, no account, no analytics and no advertising, and it sends nothing over the network. We do NOT collect, store, log, sell or transmit any personal information, browsing history, user activity, or content from the web pages you visit.

To provide its features, Screen Note processes the following data only on your device, and only when you use the related feature:

Support links. Settings → Support lists ways to donate (Buy Me a Coffee, PayPal, MoMo). The Buy Me a Coffee and PayPal links open the provider's website in a new tab only when you click them. Screen Note sends no data to these services and does not know whether you donate; any payment is handled by the provider under its own privacy policy.

Drawings, captured screenshots and the images you add are kept only in the open tab and are discarded when you close Screen Note or the page. They are never uploaded, stored on a server or shared with third parties.

We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, do not use or transfer it for any purpose unrelated to Screen Note's single purpose (annotating and capturing web pages), and do not use or transfer it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

The use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

2. Permissions

Screen Note does not request access to all websites and does not run on any page until you click its icon. Some pages (browser pages, the Chrome Web Store, PDFs and some protected sites) cannot be captured or annotated.

3. Acceptance of This Policy

The first time you open Screen Note, and again after this policy changes, it shows a short notice. By choosing "I understand" and using Screen Note, you confirm that you have read and accept this policy. You can read it at any time in Settings → Policy.

4. Your Responsibility

You are responsible for what you capture, annotate and share. Respect copyright, privacy and confidentiality rules, and your organisation's policies.

Blur pixelates only the screenshot and drawings, not the page itself, and is not a guaranteed redaction. For passwords, keys or personal data, leave them out of the screenshot (Capture area keeps only the part you select) and check the result before sharing.

Measurements are in CSS pixels and can differ from the real design or physical size because of browser zoom, screen scaling and page layout.

5. Disclaimer

Screen Note is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. The authors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from its use, including data shared by mistake or inaccurate measurements.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version. When the policy changes, Screen Note shows a notice the next time you open it.
